Hallo,

I just installed an MT5634ZPX-PCI-U modem and found that vgetty refuses to
recognise it as voice modem. What am I doing wrong? I'm running kernel
2.6.15.4 and mgetty+sendfax 1.34.

Groetjes,

Hans.

The log level is a bit low to see what's actually going on.

What is your modem returning in response to the ATI and ATI9 queries?

It should work if you just set "forcev253 true" in voice.conf

GD> The log level is a bit low to see what's actually going on.

How high do you want it?

GD> What is your modem returning in response to the ATI and ATI9 queries?

That's:
ati
LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZPX-PCI-U Internal Data/Fax/Voice Modem Version 1.32k
OK
ati9
52
OK

GD> It should work if you just set "forcev253 true" in voice.conf

It does, or at least it starts now without complaining.
But do you expect it to work without putting this in? And if yes, would you
like a log with a hugher log level?

Groetjes,

Hans.

Gert:

Looks like Multitech came out with a newer firmware for this modem. In
the source tree mgetty-1.1.34/voice/libvoice/detect.c has:

{ati, "LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZPX-PCI-U Internal Data/Fax/Voice Modem Version
1.32i", NULL, &V253modem},

We need to add a new line to detect.c to recogize the new firmware.

It looks like Multitech also released a new firmware v1.32k for my
model too: MT5634ZPX-PCI-V92

I will update my modem and send you the ATI line for inclusion in the
next patch.

Hans:

If you know how to compile vgetty. Just add a new line in detect.c
(below the above line is a nice place) that looks like this:

{ati, "LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZPX-PCI-U Internal Data/Fax/Voice Modem Version
1.32k", NULL, &V253modem},

Then recompile and all will be detected automatically.

Thank you,

Peter

Sorry, I did not see this message before :(
I put the line into detect.c, recompiled, changed voice.conf back to forceV253
False and restarted vgetty.
It initialises without complaining now.
Thank you very much!

Hans.
